Let me go ahead and explain this product to all those who think of this as the new “Miracle Energy.”
The biggest argument in using 5 Hour is that it has only 4 calories. Calories=energy. This is the same concept of why we eat food which is calorie dense and provides energy. Specifically the quickest reacting calorie is carbohydrates which is why athletes are recommended to consume 60% or more a day of carbohydrates. 5 hour has 0 carbohydrates which = 0 energy. So lets talk about what IS in 5 Hour. For one you have the 8 oz coffee equivalent of caffeine. Well we all know that caffeine increases alertness. Every energy drink has this and so does coffee which happens to be a tons cheaper than 5 hour. Other ingredients include:
Niacin-Coenzyme in carbohydrate/lipid metabolism. In other words it breaks down carbohydrates to be used as energy. Interesting enough, this is found in FOOD
B6-Coenzyme in amino acid (protein) metabolism. It breaks down protein to be used as energy. Guess what? This is also found in FOOD
B12-Coenzyme in blood formation and nervous system function. And again, if you eat food then your on track to consuming enough B12.
Folic Acid-Coenzyme in amino acid metabolism. Also found in food.
The final ingredients make up your “Energy Blend” of Taurine, Malic Acid, Glucuronlactone and a few others, non of which are energy providing nutrients. In fact Taurine is found in ALL energy drinks and there is not 1 single study which provides results that Taurine is a component of energy production. This is true for the rest of the above “Herbal Ingredients” as well.
For all those who believe you are experiencing increased energy using this product. You ARE and your doing it for 3 times the cost that you could be by simply drinking an 8 oz of coffee. The only ingredient in 5 Hour that is providing “alertness” is caffeine. It is a shame that so many people out there fall for marketing schemes because of their own lack of knowledge in the field of nutrition. Hopefully this has provided some much needed information on what is actually in 5 Hour and what actually provides energy to the human body. Stop wasting your money for $3 Five Hour Energy products and go consume carbohydrates and a little added caffeine if need be and enjoy the energy providing benefits that food offers. You will even save money in the process.

This product is a complete waste of money. I am a long distance motorcycle rider (1500 plus miles in 24 hours)and bought this product for a quick and lasting energy boost. I read the good reviews and bought a case. Form the first bottle to the last I couldn’t tell any difference after taking it.It was as effective as drinking a glass of water. If you still want to try it only buy one to try and don/t waste your money on a case.

Excellent…works like any other in the category. No crash or jitters. Just a consistent non-overpowering boost of energy.
In the future, I will not purchase from Amazon. There’s significant markup on the item. To compare, I recently bought 24pk sugarfree Monster at what turned out to be 100% markup from the pricing at a local big box store. Unit price of $1.45 apposed to amazon’s $1.96/unit

This is a good product but beware; the cost plus s/h is no bargain. It is probably cheaper to buy it in a store. The only advantage here is convenience.

Excellent customer service and I received the item sooner than expected. Price was lower than in stores.
